RECIPE: Chocolate Bark

chocolate bark

A chocolate treat with added benefits!


1/2 cup raw hemp seeds

1/2 cup chia seeds

1/2 cup puffed quinoa or amaranth

100g dark chocolate (we used Lindt 85%)

1/2 cup cocoa powder

1/2 cup coconut oil

2 tablespoons maple syrup

sprinkle of coarse sea salt

- add chocolate, coconut oil, maple syrup and cocoa powder to a heat proof bowl and sit over a simmering saucepan of water to melt everything together
- when fully melted and mixed set aside to cool to room temp, it will stay in a liquid state
- gently toast chia seeds in a dry pan for 30 seconds (this makes them really crunchy)
- when chocolate mix is cooled, stir in all remaining ingredients,
- pour into a baking-paper-lined tray and put in the fridge
- after an hour or so the mixture will become solidified
- use a knife to crack it into rough pieces
- store in the fridge
