5 things I’ve learnt in the first 2 months postpartum

👑 do something for yourself everrrrry day. It makes the world of difference to your mood and mental health. It can be as small as a hot shower and a nutritious breakfast in the sunshine or as big as going for a walk in nature or a swim.

😴 sleep when YOU can. I am yet to achieve a nap when the baby sleeps in the day (yes I see rest as an achievement!) however going to bed earlier in the evening, straight after dinner instead of waiting up for the next feed is a game changer.

🍼 breastfeeding is really hard! There are days when you can’t do much else - it’s more than a full time job. There are days when it really hurts. Followed by days when all goes without a hitch and you wonder what you’ve been worrying about. It’s a journey!

👶🏻 allow yourself to slow down and pause (sometimes in the chaos) and allow the baby to have a contact nap after a feed. It’s good for the baby. It’s good for you. The baby being close to the body that grew them is their favourite place to be.

🍝 stay nourished. Filling the freezer before the baby comes is one thing, keeping it stocked is another! We used up our stash pretty quickly. If you manage to cook always make extra to freeze. If people offer to bring food, always accept!
